Poor Man's Leica
I've been studying the Olympus EP1 and EP2 quite a bit lately. One might ask why when I have a GF1? Well....Let me tell you why. I find myself wanting to shoot with a classic looking digital camera with old lenses. I am seriously considering an EP1 with an adapter or two for some of my old lenses.
Why would I do that? Besides that fact that I think it is fun, I want to slow down the picture taking process. Digital has gotten so quick. Snap. Snap. Snap. Whoa! I just took a bunch of pictures. I'm too quick to shoot and I am snapping away and deleting later. I want to slow down, focus on the composition, and manually focus on the point(s) I want. I think it will improve my skills.
So....If any of you readers would consider trading me your EP1 body for my GF1 body, fill out the contact/submission form on the right of this entry or post a comment and I'll contact you.
So.....Here's to the poor man's Leica.

i see your point with the slowing down. that's why i recently started using my fathers old all mechanical (except the exposure meter) slr again and i really love it. it's a bit chunky to take it out biking though...
but what difference would the pen make over the gf1, just the classic look?
There is a group of somwhat likeminded folk gathering here:

I think you and your work would be a good contribution, also, if you stick with the path you are on the swap should be on by Monday, they have decent trafic. Before you get rid of the GF1 read about adapted lenses there a bit.
Happy Friday
Martn - I too have considered film. Film makes you appreciate the shot because you have to invest so much time and/or money into getting it developed. But....I still want digital. I need to slow down. Regarding your question about the GF1 or and EP1, yes it is about the classic style of the Pen. I still remember seeing an EP1 with a nice leather camera holster in the Amsterdam airport. It has left a lasting impression.
Rob - Yes, I'm familiar with this site. I will dig a bit deaper before I jump in. Thank you for the recommendation.
